چکیده
This paper is devoted to the ductile–brittle transition behavior of high strength low alloyed structural steel NIOMOL 490K. grade designed for welded pressure vessels exposed dynamic loads, operating at temperatures below zero, and that why it must have acceptable toughness. Due its importance safety assessment vessels, a characterization this with Charpy V-notch test in range temperature between-60 ⁰C +60 was undertaken. Ductile-to-brittle curves were generated present study by using instrumented pendulum impact on specimens. Notches located parent material, heat-affected zone weld metal. The nil-ductility tensile properties from -60 are presented paper. We used different better understand ductile-to brittle response than just use either energy or other related ductility criteria.

The Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature of Unalloyed Adi Material
In material selection, especially in low temperature conditions, one of very important factors it is a ductile to brittle transition temperature, i.e. the temperature when material becomes too brittle to use. In this paper transition temperature determined by impact energy in temperature interval from –196 to +100°C of unalloyed austempered ductile iron with different microstructures have been ...
متن کاملEffect of Constraint on Ductile Crack Growth and Ductile-Brittle Fracture Transition of a carbon Steel
Ductile-brittle fracture transition was investigated using compact tension (CT) specimens from -70 o C to 40 o C for a carbon steel. Large deformation finite element analysis has been carried out to simulate the stable crack growth in the compact tension (CT, a/W=0.6), three point-point bend (SE(B), a/W=0.1) and centre-cracked tension (M(T), a/W=0.5) specimens. Experimental crack tip opening di...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of the Ductile-Brittle Transition
Numerical studies of the ductile-brittle transition are described that are based on incorporating physically based models of the competing fracture mechanisms into the material's constitutive relation. An elastic-viscoplastic constitutive relation for a porous plastic solid is used to model ductile fracture by the nucleation and subsequent growth of voids to coalescence. Cleavage is modeled in ...
متن کاملMultiscale modeling of the brittle to ductile transition
A recently introduced method of crack representation as a distribution of three-dimensional Volterra dislocations is used in conjunction with two-dimensional dislocation dynamics simulations to study the brittle to ductile transition behavior of Ferritic Steels. The crack-tip plasticity zone is represented as an array of discrete dislocations emitted from crack-tip sources. The dislocations shi...
متن کاملSize-Dependent Brittle-to-Ductile Transition in Silica Glass Nanofibers.
Silica (SiO2) glass, an essential material in human civilization, possesses excellent formability near its glass-transition temperature (Tg > 1100 °C). However, bulk SiO2 glass is very brittle at room temperature. Here we show a surprising brittle-to-ductile transition of SiO2 glass nanofibers at room temperature as its diameter reduces below 18 nm, accompanied by ultrahigh fracture strength. L...
